I must give tribute to Konu. He passed on in february. but was a beloved pet in our home. We got him when he was about 9 months old a few years ago, from his owner, who realized she really didn't have time for a pet. We never imagined having a small dog. They weren't really our style...especially one who was papered and all. We usually went more for the mutt...and as you can see we treated Konu as a mutt. We actually would cut his hair short, which was our preferred style for him, but his cuts were usually long overdue by the time I got him in, and he was usually pretty scraggly. Konu's claim to fame is he was born without a tail. Because his hair was usually long, and people sometimes will clip shuitzue's tails, it wasn't noticed much....actually just gave him constipation problems at times.
Konu was very friendly. No one was a stranger. We had problems with him when we took him to the jobsite, cause he would wander off and look for anyone to visit. He had a great personality. He didn't let his size get in the way of his adventures. He thought he was a giant, and the strongest dog on the block. He could jump over a foundation...which means about 2 feet...and was up for about anything.
He liked to cuddle, which worked well with most of our family. We don't like to tie our dogs, but would have to tie Konu to keep him around the house. We live on a short road that goes out to a busy rural highway. He found a girlfriend at the rv park across the street from the highway. No matter how hard we tried to keep him from going over there, he always found a way to sneak out. One night we came home and he was in the entrance to our driveway. It was heartbreaking. He wasn't dead yet, but had a broken back and legs. It was very sad.
Kasidee made this tribute for Konu. this is a photo of a dog that looked similar in a calendar she had.
We do miss Konu. He was a fun pet. This was an especially hard ordeal for our kids. We have had to give away other pets and we lost Bear when the boys were old enough to remember, but they weren't as close to Bear as he was an outside dog. Anyways, RIP.....Konu. He doesn't have to worry about getting lost in doggy heaven, and hopefully can be the social butterfly he was meant to be.

So sorry, Verlee. :-( I'm sure you and your kids are heartbroken. We're thinking of you.
